The amount of Bank deposits is different in each colony for colonial Depositors. It would be an advantage if this information could be published for both Hongkong and the Straits Settlements, but if any objection is felt to giving the information for both, just for the purpose in question.

We have been informed by Hongkong Manager that an application had been addressed to him by the Colonial Secretary for information as to the amount of Deposits in this Bank at 31st December last.
We enclose copy of this letter, and if the enquiry refers to the total amount of Deposits with this Bank, the information can be furnished by us here, and we shall be glad to hear from you on this point.
We are, however, unable to understand why this request should reach us from Hongkong, seeing that no similar enquiry has been made in Singapore.
